Nancy Lynne Davey
We mourn her passing on July 30, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, Nancy’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Plum Beach Garden Club,
We are grateful for this gift.
We welcome Andrea Sarrasin as a new member in 2019 ...
and she shares her reasons for joining.
I grew up northern RI, and spent most of each childhood summer in Narragansett. Over the years I have lived in the Boston area and also in LA, but was happy to move back to South County full time with my husband about 15 years ago. We specifically chose our property because there was ample room for me to garden while still being only about a mile from our boat, and we love it. And, although I’ve always loved to garden (I had a community plot when I lived in the city), that’s when I really started gardening more seriously. I love just about every aspect of gardening – working in my own, visiting other gardens both nearby and when I travel, and reading and learning about gardening and horticulture. This past winter I took the Master Gardener course at URI and will receive my certificate as soon as I finish a few more volunteer hours.
Since retiring and having more time (I am a CPA and worked in the Corporate Finance Department at Ocean Spray Cranberries), I have been looking forward to meeting some new gardening friends and being around other gardening enthusiasts, and I also want to give something back to the community. Sharon Pickering and Kathy Romeo went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and everyone I have met has been very welcoming. I am delighted to be a member of the club, and look forward to active participation.
